Distinguished traditional leader of the Kaonde-speaking people of Kalumbila District in Zambia’s North-Western Province. Widely recognised for promoting peacebuilding, community development, environmental stewardship and inclusive leadership through traditional governance systems. Previously served within the House of Chiefs and contributed to national dialogue and public-interest initiatives involving governance, health advocacy, environmental protection and social cohesion. At IPES Zambia, serves as Chairperson (Patron) of the Governing Board, providing strategic moral leadership, institutional patronage and guidance in advancing the Institute’s vision of diplomacy, peace economy studies and cooperative development. Passionate about peacebuilding, sustainable development and inclusive leadership.
Amb. Lazarous Kapambwe

Amb. Lazarous Kapambwe

CO-CHAIRPERSON (PATRON EMERITUS)
Distinguished diplomat and international affairs expert with extensive experience in foreign affairs service, multilateral diplomacy, governance and international cooperation. Previously served within the United Nations system and represented Zambia in various high-level diplomatic and strategic engagements at regional and global levels. Has held senior public service and diplomatic responsibilities, contributing to policy dialogue, institutional leadership and international development cooperation. Currently serves as Special Envoy to the President of the Republic of Zambia, H.E. Mr. Hakainde Hichilema. At IPES Zambia, serves as Co-Chairperson (Patron Emeritus) of the Governing Board, providing strategic oversight, institutional mentorship and diplomatic guidance. Passionate about strengthening Africa’s role in global diplomacy, peacebuilding and sustainable development cooperation.

Diplomacy, governance and development educationist with interests in peace leadership and conflict resolution studies, strategic communication, public policy and institutional development. Executive Director and Founding Vision Bearer of the Institute of Peace Economy Studies Zambia (IPES Zambia), where he leads strategic direction, partnerships, programme development and institutional growth. Has contributed to diplomacy initiatives, youth engagement, governance dialogue, research coordination and multi-stakeholder collaboration focused on strengthening peace-oriented development and cooperative leadership frameworks. Champions the development of a credible public-interest institution dedicated to research, professional training, policy advisory and dialogue platforms aligned with Zambia’s foreign policy orientation and broader development aspirations. Passionate about positioning Zambia as a hub for peace diplomacy, innovation and cooperative development.
Brig. Gen. Idih Hachanga

Brig. Gen. Idih Hachanga

Officer in the Zambia Army with extensive experience in defence and security, particularly in military strategy and governance. Currently serves as Director General for Policy, Doctrine and Strategy Development Branch at Zambia Army Headquarters. Has served as Commander and Staff Officer at various levels within the Zambia Army and peace support missions. Provides strategic guidance and oversight in support of IPES Zambia’s mandate on peace economy studies, diplomacy, research, professional training and cooperative development. Passionate about strengthening inclusive governance, security, evidence-based policy and sustainable peace-oriented development.
Mr. Mataa Wakumelo

Mr. Mataa Wakumelo

NON-EXECUTIVE MEMBER
Macro-financial economist and policy analyst with extensive experience in monetary policy, financial stability analysis and applied macroeconomic research. Currently serves as Senior Analyst in Macroprudential Analysis and Surveillance at the Bank of Zambia. Previously worked as a Researcher in Public Finance Management at the Centre for Trade Policy and Development (CTPD). Has conducted econometric analysis and policy research. Co-authored research papers including the development of Zambia’s Financial Conditions Index incorporated into Monetary Policy Reports. Holds MSc Economics (Finance) from the University of Edinburgh and MA Economics from the University of Zambia. Provides strategic insight on economic trends, financial risk and policy developments.
Dr. Wisdom C. Kaleng’a

Development policy and international cooperation specialist with extensive experience in trade policy, development studies, research and institutional capacity-building. Previously served as lecturer and Head of Department in Development Studies at the University of Zambia (UNZA). Currently works with GIZ, supporting development cooperation and policy-oriented programmes linked to regional integration, trade and institutional strengthening. Provides strategic guidance on development cooperation, policy research and institutional partnerships aligned with sustainable peace and economic diplomacy. Passionate about sustainable development, trade policy and international cooperation.
Ms. Loveness M. Mulimbika

Ms. Loveness M. Mulimbika

Seasoned diplomacy and international relations practitioner with extensive experience in diplomatic service, training, foreign affairs administration and institutional development. Previously served as Director of the Zambia Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies (ZIDIS). Contributed significantly to diplomatic education, professional capacity-building and international relations training in Zambia. Participated in diplomacy, governance, international cooperation and public-sector institutional strengthening initiatives. Provides strategic guidance on diplomacy, international engagement and institutional cooperation in support of peace economy studies and policy innovation. Passionate about strengthening professional diplomacy and international cooperation.
